I Have A Dream (poem excerpt)

Here is an excerpt of my poem entitled "I Have A Dream." The entire poem is in my debut poetry book Take It From Me: Cautionary Tales From A Former Fool (The You Can Take It Poetry Series: Volume I). Blessings to you all today.

I stand today and see the dream inside of me
It’s deeper than what my eyes can see
Look at me, I have ambition, I have a desire
Nobody can put water on this fire
I have this dream inside of me that’s growing strong
If I can bear the short-term discomfort, the dream won’t take long
I am encouraged, I am blessed, and I am a soldier in this fight
Because I’m strong in the Lord and in the power of His might
I can’t let anything tie me down; I have too much at stake
I know I have to press forward and do whatever it takes.

Never to neglect the Lord who blessed me and saved me
Because it is He who loves me and it is this dream He gave me
I have to fulfill it; I have to nurture it with all of my heart
Because He knew this dream was for me from the start

If Pharaoh and Dr. King can have a dream, then I can have a dream
And when it’s resurrected and affirmed, it’s not as distant as it seems.

If I neglect this, I’m letting you, God, and myself down
This is my time, and I’m turning this life of mine around

This is it! Destiny has to be fulfilled
I refuse to be tied down; that’s not God’s will
This poem might be hard for your ears, so it seems
But this is me, and I’m blessed to be living the dream.

Tremayne's Book Release Party (June 18, 2011)

Happy Thursday everyone:

Don’t forget that on June 18th, I will be having a virtual online release party for the release of my third poetry book, Take It From Him (For Men of Standard & The Women Who Love Them). This party will take place on three sites:

My personal Facebook page (I created an event, and if you attend, I’ll invite you to a live chat whwith me and possibly a few authors will participate).
My fan page on Facebook (there will be discussion topics brought up by fellow authors & yours truly)

I did it this way to give everyone three different options to join in. The unique thing about this party is that you can drop in for a minute or two and leave. There will be multiple giveaways (and a major giveaway near the end), but you’ve got to stop on by any one of my sites. We will be discussing my new release and there will even be a discussion of my prior books. Don’t forget you can preview them on my website www.maynetre.com (and click on published books).

If you or your friends purchase my Take It From Him between now & June 17th, you will get a free copy of my debut book Take It From Me (some will qualify to get in place of my debut book my second book Take It From Her). Just go to my website and purchase (all books purchased there will be autographed).

Spread the word, more details will follow.

Review of Take It From Him

This review was written by my brother & fellow author, Davis Prime.

Ok, Men: when was the last time you picked up a book of poetry? If you’re like me, it may have been quite some time, but I highly recommend you change those ingrained habits and get Tremayne Moore’s new book, Take It from Him. Frank, and insightful, Mr. Moore bares his soul in such a way that other men can benefit from his life experience, while at the same time, giving women a clear vision for the male enigma. It’s no easy task, but within the pages of his latest release, he pulls no punches, dealing with the issues of men: whether it be determination, fatigue, love, fear, or even perversion. While some poems speak directly to the black male experience, the issues he addresses and gives voice to are shared by all mankind. Tremayne is obviously a man of faith, and as such, his beliefs shine forth, in poems like My Mind on the Word. This book reaches lofty places and it can take you with it because the author permits a level of transparency and vulnerability, exhibiting both his strength and humility. Here is a book that suits itself to the busy day-to-day lifestyle of men and women. It does not demand that you consume it in one sitting, or even several. Instead, it can be sipped and digested at leisure, alone, or in a group setting. You can find a quiet spot, sit down, and read one or many of its gems; it doesn’t matter. As for me, I think the combination of a cool sunrise, a cup of coffee, a chair on the porch and this book might just prove an unbeatable combination.
